Day 5

as you can tell from this entry, I'm still having a very hard time painting figures. I was happy with the pencil sketch but somehow when I switched to paint it fell apart on me. Mistakes are what we learn from and as much as I did not want to post this, it's only fair that I see my faults along the way to success.

Day 4

Well, I made it to day four of the 30/30 challenge. This time I chose a Kryptonian and like the quickness of working in gouache, I am still using only four colors bug this time I had to add blue. I still have no idea how to paint figures and am struggling to get these to look presentable. But that's my goal for day 30, to teach myself through trial and many errors, how to paint the figure and portraits. Thanks for viewing...

Day 3

I'm not a big DC Comic fan, but Batman is too huge a character for me to pass up. However I decided to focus more on the man beneath the mask. In the film adaptations I felt Christian Bale made a very good Bruce Wayne. For painting 3, a small portrait of Mr. Wayne done those time with gouache.

Day 2 2015

This painting was inspired by N.C. Wyeth's work. I think I over worked the shadowy effect. I'll have to be more mindful of that next time. But here's "Captain America"

Happy 2015

Welcome to a new year and a new 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. For this challenge I want to learn portraits and I thought If I'm going to do this I may as well pick a subject that I like. So this month you'll hopefully see 30 of my favorite comic book heroes. I'm starting with the classic original Incredible Hulk. This is influenced by Jack Kirby's 1962 Hulk first appearance. I've also decided to use a limited pallet for this month's challenge. I'm using Anders Zorn pallet of White, Red, Yellow Ochre, and Cad Red medium. I'm also adding Blue to my pallet. This should make for a very interesting looking feel for this series. I hope you guys enjoy as much as I enjoy creating these.

New art to be displayed

I was hoping to post some Twilight Zone paintings but life has taken me down an alternate route for now. I am currently looking to have a few of my military vehicle paintings on display at the Museum of Miltary History in Kissimmee, Florida. This has been something I've wanted to do for a while now, and finally it's coming to light. Some of the vehicles I've painted on location at the museum, Jeep Willys, Civil Wat canons, and a few from other central Florida locations like the Titusville air museum.

Welcome October

No painting today, instead I'm taking this day to relax a bit. A month of doing 30 paintings really is exhausting. I am a fan of October, not only because it is my birth month but I love this time of year for another reason. Horror films!!! I love em and to celebrate I've just binge watched season 4 of the Walking Dead. I know I'm slow, and Netflix is to blame for adding it so late. But now that season 5 is here, and I don't have AMC I'll have to find other ways to get my fix. I've also decided to start a new series of paintings based off classic Twilight a Zone episodes. So this month you can expect to see paintings representing some of my favorites like "To Serve Man". My post might shift from daily to once or twice a week, but I will be adding new things soon. If you're not following my blog please do, and let me know some of your favorite TZ episodes or horror films. Here's a couple of sketches for some paintings I'm planning.
